Parking and traffic
With the current weather forecast leading up to Saturday’s Michigan State-Penn State football game, the Michigan State University Police Department doesn’t intend to open the Munn Field lot for parking. Alternative parking will be available at the Trowbridge, Shaw Lane and Grand River parking ramps.
Remember: Red Cedar Road will be closed from Shaw Lane to Chestnut Road during all home football games. Those with parking passes for the “U” Lot will be granted access only via Red Cedar Road at Shaw Lane, and those with parking passes for the “A” Lot will be granted access via Red Cedar Road at Chestnut Road only.
MSU has abundant parking available on football game days. The university provides a variety of parking options designed to enhance your game day experience. All parking locations are open at 7 a.m. for noon and 1 p.m. kickoffs, 9 a.m. for 3:30 p.m. kickoffs, 1 p.m. for Saturday evening kickoffs and 3:30 p.m. for Friday evening kickoffs. All fans are encouraged not to come before these times as traffic lineups will not be permitted.
- On-campus public game-day parking will be available for $20 at Munn Field (alcohol-free site) and lots north and south of the railroad tracks
- $10 per game at lots on Service Road or south of Service Road
Priority parking permit
Season priority parking permits are available to Spartan Fund Donors. This is the best method to assure a premium parking location. For information on season permits for priority parking areas, please contact the Spartan Fund office at (517) 432-4610.
Accessible parking is available in Lot 48, Natural Resource Building. Enter from Trowbridge extension off of Red Cedar or Farm Lane.Parking in this area is $20, which includes shuttle transport to the northeast corner of Spartan Stadium. The shuttle starts two hours prior to kickoff and returns for a reasonable amount of time after the game. The shuttle bus returning to accessible parking is accessed from the northeast stadium gates.
Recreational vehicle parking is available in lot 92 on Service Road. Cost is $40 per RV.
Shuttle bus service is available from Lot 89 at the corner of Mt. Hope Road and Farm Lane. The shuttle starts two hours prior to kickoff and returns for a reasonable amount of time after the game. The cost is $5 per game for a round trip ticket or $35 for a season pass. Parking is free.

From the east
Those approaching campus from the east (I-96) are advised to take the Okemos Road exit. You will be routed from Okemos Road and Jolly Road to the shuttle parking areas located near Farm Lane and Mt. Hope Road. The parking is free and the cost of the shuttle is $5.
Fans with parking passes should follow Jolly Road to Hagadorn Road and go north to Shaw Lane. Enter campus on Shaw Lane and proceed to your designated lot.
From the west
Fans traveling to the football game from the west side of the state should follow I-96 to 127 north and exit at the Jolly/Dunckel Road exit. Go east on Dunckel Road to Forest Road. You will be routed to shuttle parking near Farm Lane and Mt. Hope Road. The parking is free and the cost of the shuttle is $5.
From the north / south
Fans traveling to the football game on 127 (north or south) can exit onto Trowbridge Road. This route typically gets heavy traffic and may be congested because of the normal traffic flow in the area. Another option would be to take the Kalamazoo Street exit.
Fans with parking passes may want to use the route closest to their assigned parking area.
